Update

I just wanted to make a brief post apologizing about my lack of posts and reviews lately. School and volleyball has taken up a lot of my time, so I don't have much more time to post things. For the next couple of weeks, you may see a lack of posts, but I should be back to my regular posting schedule by the end of the month or at least mid-October. Anyways, thanks for following my blog, it really means a lot! :)

Happy Reading,

Review: Clockwork Angel

Author: Cassandra Clare

Release Date: August 31st, 2010

Pages: 479

Synopsis: Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Genre: Young Adult Fantasy/Steampunk

My Review:

This book was amazing, I loved everything about it! Once again, Cassandra Clare, you didn't disappoint. Everything about this book intrigued me, from it's characters to it's twists and turns. The character development was phenomenal and kept me interested until the very last page.

The story starts off with one of the main characters, Tessa Gray being introduced and what happens when the Dark Sisters have her captured. After staying so long with the Dark Sisters, Tessa becomes accustomed to their ways until one day, mysterious shadowhunters, Will and Jem save her and bring her back to the Institute. Before I go any further, I just wanted to put it out there that I am team Will, not team Jem.

Let's talk about Will Herondale for a moment. First of all, he reminds me a lot of Jace from Cassandra's other books, The Mortal Instruments. Jace is cocky, arrogant, and has a soft side that doesn't shine through often. Will has a lot of those same characteristics, which I love about him, since I also love Jace's character.

Also, the ending was SUCH a cliffhanger. Darn you, Cassandra Clare! But oh well, it's okay since I have Clockwork Prince right here with me and ready to read. I can't wait to see what is in store for some of my new favorite characters. I know this review was pretty short, but there isn't much to say about this book except for that I loved it.

You should definitely check out this series and Cassandra's other series, The Mortal Instruments, if you have not already.

Musing Mondays (4)

Musing Mondays are hosted by MizB of Should be Reading
This week’s musing — courtesy of http://abookandashortlatte.wordpress.com – asks…

Do you take notes while you read?

My answer: It depends. I sometimes use sticky notes or write in a notebook when I need to, but I don't really do it a lot. I probably should start noting things more, since it would help out my reviews a bit.

What about you? Post the link to your Musing Mondays in the comments!

Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post that highlights books we are excited to read hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine.

Title: The Raven Boys
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Synopsis:
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of theShiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.

Why am I excited?:
I loved Maggie's Shiver Trilogy, so hopefully this new series will be just as, or even more awesome.

What book are you waiting for?

Happy Reading,
Kiersten

My Teaser:

"His eyes, when he raised them to Tessa's, nearly made her lose her composure: They were gold-green with slit pupils, the eyes of a cat set in a distinctly human face. They were full of shimmering amusement."

Musing Mondays (3)

Musing Mondays are hosted by MizB of Should be Reading

This week’s musing –courtesy of http://bookshelf.shotgunopera.net– asks…

Have you ever considered writing a book before? What genre would you write?

My answer: Yes, I have considered writing a book before, many times. I think it's a big goal of mine to write at least one novel since I love to write. I think the genre I would probably write would be YA Contemporary or Dystopian since those are what I find most fun to read about. However, I like anything YA, so it would be a difficult decision.

Feature & Follow (2)

Feature and Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community.

Q: Best cover? What is the best cover of a book that you've read and didn't like?

A:

I loved this cover, it's really different and natural looking. It's too bad I wasn't a big fan of the book. Hopefully I will be able to re-read this sometime and enjoy it, but now is not that time. The story line really bored me.

Happy Reading,
Kiersten
